The Princeton Coffeehouse Presents Diana Jones
The Princeton Coffeehouse proudly presents acclaimed singer-songwriter Diana Jones.
Diana Jones an award-winning singer/songwriter based in New York and Nashville, will perform at the Princeton Coffeehouse on Saturday, November 11 at 7:30 p.m.
(This month’s Coffeehouse show is early because of the Thanksgiving holiday.)
Jones grew up in the Northeast, the adopted daughter of a chemical engineer. During her childhood and adolescence, she felt an almost mystical, inexplicable attraction to rural Southern music. It wasn’t until her late twenties, when she located her birth family in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, that her deep affinity for folk and Appalachian music began to make sense.
Her 2006 recording, My Remembrance of You, earned Jones a nomination as Best Emerging Artist at the Folk Alliance Awards, leading to tours with Richard Thompson and Mary Gauthier, appearances at folks festivals on both sides of the Atlantic, and covers of her songs by Joan Baez and Gretchen Peters. Baez has said of Jones: “There’s some kind of channeling from some other lifetime going on . . . it must come from some mysterious part of her soul.”
Over the last decade, Jones has released another four albums, most recently, Diana Jones Live in Concert. About this recording, Michael Hingston of Country Music People wrote: “these are interpretations that are just as powerful as her studio recordings and a reminder of how good Jones is live.” Jones last appeared at the Coffeehouse in 2011.
