Princeton's Festival 56 presents winning plays from the international New Works Competition on July 23–24 in the former Dunbar’s building at 21 Park Ave. East, adjacent to Soldiers and Sailors Park. Winning scripts will be given staged readings Saturday and Sunday with different programs each day. Saturday's New Works Festival features seven mini-plays, each lasting ten minutes or less. The winning scripts include humor, nostalgia, thought-provoking drama, a ghost story, a send-up of the thirties noir genre, and more. Sunday's New Works Festival offers three one-act plays including a contemporary comedy about grandparents and their teenage granddaughter, a historical drama about Emily Dickinson as a girl, and a suspense drama set during a hurricane in Key West. Performances begin at 2:00. Tickets are $10 each day.
