Festival 56 presents Camp 56
Over the course of 26 days, camper's will experience a series of theater experiences: auditioning, improvisation, make-up, wardrobe, stage design, lighting and sound, musical theater, hands-on opportunities in set construction and painting, make-up, props and performing. Finally campers will be cast in, rehearse and perform with experienced professional s from the Festival 56 company of artists in the Festival's main stage production of Guys and Dolls.
In addition, campers will participate in a professional dress rehearsal and tech rehearsal and experience the unique perspective of a theater's backstage during the run of a show. Each summer participant will also receive a campers-only discount to all the Festival 56 summer season: The Fantasticks, Violet and Brighton Beach Memoirs.
Professional actors, directors, music directors, designers, and choreographers from Festival 56's company of artists will be engaged with the campers, offering a chance for participants to aspire to a better understanding of a career in the theater as they meet, interact, and talk with seasoned professionals.
The camp will be conducted by a certified teacher (with background in theater), a theater student/graduate (AmeriCorps), cast and crew memebers of Festival 56 and local theater volunteers,
