Gerald Brauer, Executive Director of the Ellwood House, DeKalb, IL, will discuss the19th century barbed wire industry, perfected in DeKalb, and its impact on farming and fencing on the Illinois Prairie. This program is presented in conjunction with Between Fences; a Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibition exploring the way fences, real and symbolic, are used in our society.
