SUMMARY:My Journey to Cooperstown
DESCRIPTION:The Bureau County Genealogical Society will hold its combined November/December meeting on Thursday evening December 5. To celebrate the holidays the board members are inviting the public to a social hour beginning at 6:00 pm at the Society library at 629 South Main Street in Princeton. Finger foods and beverages will be served before the regular meeting which will begin at 7:00 pm. The featured speaker for the evening will be Bureau County's own citizen\, Betty Jean Fox\, who gained prominence playing in the All American Girls Professional Baseball League in her younger years. She grew up on a farm near Wyanet and played softball with her father and sisters. That early enjoyment of the game led to an unique experience as an early female athlete playing for the Rockford Peaches\, the Kalamazoo Lassies\, and the Muskegon Belles. The public is encouraged to attend this free program and hear her story. No reservations are necessary. For further information you may call (815) 879-3133 during regular hours of business or stop by between 10:00 am to 3:00 pm MTThF. BCGS will also be open on the First Saturday of both December and January for research opportunities during those hours.
